Build a strong foundation, and you can reach unthinkable heights. I often reflect on what led me here today: my incredible parents, some truly remarkable teachers, invaluable life lessons, and, of course, God. There's also another chapter that stands out—The Mentoring Program of Ruleville. That’s where I made some of my most cherished memories as a high schooler and young adult. Where my excitement to meet new people in my own community grew. Where I began to experience profound life lessons that shaped my perspective today. I couldn’t wait for those Tuesday evenings to go across the bridge! I remember my first time visiting Birmingham, the game nights where I dominated in Taboo (well, maybe I lost a few rounds, but who’s really counting?). Also, where the speakers would come through to drop some gems on our young, impressionable, and sometimes stubborn minds. Back then, I may have thought I had it all figured out. Little did I know, that was just the beginning. Through the mentoring program, I met incredible leaders, educators, and peers. It was their dedication and belief in us that ignited a spark we hadn’t yet discovered in ourselves. Thank you, Mentoring Program of Ruleville, and CONGRATULATIONS on 25 years and counting of inspiring and empowering future leaders!
Jesse Gresham, Software Development Engineer (Jackson, MS)

I am a man of faith, family, and community, whose life has been profoundly shaped by my upbringing in the church and commitment to personal growth. Born and raised in Ruleville, Mississippi, I grew up attending the Delmar Church of Christ, where my spiritual foundation was nurtured and strengthened.
For nearly a decade, I actively participated in the mentoring program, an experience that transformed my life. The program brought me closer to God and instilled in me core values such as integrity, responsibility, and compassion. It taught me what it means to be a man of God, a loving family man, and a productive pillar in the community. The mentoring program is one of the most meaningful influences in my life, and I give credit to the program for shaping his character and guiding me toward a path of purpose and service.
A proud alumnus of Jackson State University (JSU), I hold both an undergraduate and a master’s degree, demonstrating his dedication to education and self-improvement. Today, I live out the lessons he learned through the mentoring program, striving to be a positive influence in my community and a role model for others. I am currently employed at Nissan North America, where I work as a software development engineer and rank in the top 4% of over 2 million employees globally.
I believe my story is a testament to the transformative power of faith, mentorship, and the enduring impact of a strong spiritual foundation. I am forever grateful for the Delmar Church of Christ and the mentoring program, which will always hold a special place in my heart.
Dr. Alicia Moore, Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor & Adjunct Professor (Houston, TX)
The mentoring program in the small town of Ruleville, MS, has been instrumental in shaping my life and career in ways I could never have imagined. Twenty-five years ago, my sister wrote the grant that helped establish this program, and it became a transformative experience for me. Through the program, I gained valuable team-building skills, had the opportunity to travel across the United States, and learned from speakers who shared insights into their careers, broadening my perspective. Despite being rooted in a small town, the mentorship I received prepared me to succeed far beyond its borders, shaping my journey all the way to Texas. The guidance and support from my mentors inspired me to pursue a career where I could also give back and help others, just as they had done for me. Now, as I mentor others coming up behind me, I am grateful for the program that was so pivotal in my life. It helped me grow into the person I am today, ultimately playing a key role in my journey to becoming Dr. Alicia C. Moore.

Train up a child in the way he/she should go, and they will not depart from it. Growing up in a small town in the Delta of MS, I was not exposed to a lot. With the help of the Mentoring program of Ruleville, MS this opened up so many doors.
Mentoring program of Ruleville, MS gave me a strong foundation . It was truly a great deal of support and guidance that help me achieve life long goals, in order for to become succesful, but also gain confidence and valuable skills along the way.
Remember if one door closes, knock on the other and it shall and will open. Never give up on your dreams, even if it takes longer than you expected.
